R.I.P Storyloom

Once upon a time there was an incredible platform for telling interactive stories. It was called StoryLoom, and it hired writers to use its amazing Creator Studio to build visual novel-style branching narratives. I worked for them for about 15 months and in that time wrote three top-performing stories:

Sadly, StoryLoom shut down in February of 2024, but the stories I wrote there will live on. I’ll have good news to share about two of them very soon, and the third one is in the works right now. Sign up for my free, infrequent newsletter to get the news as soon as it hits.

CURE FOR THE COMMON CULT

This is your story of farming, flirting, healing… and running witchy errands for the ghost that lives in your house. NOVA ACADEMY

At Nova Academy, everyone knows three things:

(1) A spot in the graduating class squadron is the highest honor;
(2) Fraternization between cadets is strictly forbidden; and
(3) Never, under any circumstances, ask what happened to Sergeant Zavis.

You are Rory Hylon, a low-life conscript who fully expected to be on latrine duty for the rest of your life. Instead, you’ve quickly risen through the lower schools as top of class—and Nova Academy is your chance to make it for real. Go too hard and you’ll burn out. Piss off the wrong people and you’ll get kicked out. Fall for another cadet and you’ll be forced to hide your relationship. Spend your time wisely… and that squadron spot is YOURS.
